April 2011
Talk about recession hit Britain. After an exciting Christmas season, New York Stock Exchange, Festival Hall, the life of Reilly, its been a couple of months of working wine bars and small parties. Really pleased to still be doing the regular gig at The Narrow with David Moses and Charles Alexander. This is good fun as David sings and harmonises as well as playing a mean bass and Charles is one of London’s outstanding guitarists. Working with two guitars and bass we are able to slip some blues, pop and c&w into the rep and the punters seem to like it. Onwards and upwards.

Added some new tunes to the repertoire. Check them out on the jukebox.
July 2010

Where does the year go? Playing the other week at the Swing Joint in Caterham the temperature was about a million degrees and it felt positively tropical. Amazing how ubiquitous (great word there) the jive scene has become. All the talk was of the different clubs and festivals the dancers have been to this year. One of our annual gigs is the performance at Embankment Gardens (near Charing Cross) for lunchtime commuters. I love it. It is the same stage that Ivy Benson used to play on. While we are not quite a girls’ band I love that feeling of musical history. In fact the outdoor summer gigs are great. We are doing one on Parliament Hill in the bandstand at 3pm in the afternoon on July 25th. These gigs pay peanuts but they are great because of the way people enjoy them and the chance we get to chat with the punters. We miss playing with Dave Priseman; he is well on his way to stardom with Imelda May. The next posting will be in September. We have a gig at the Toulouse Lautrec Restaurant and Brasserie on September 14th. That is for a spiffy sit down meal with us as band and cabaret. Book early if you want to come as they have sold a few table already.

  March 2010

Last month’s gig at the 100 Club was a real blast. They do a jive night on Mondays, check it out. We got some pictures taken there and you might enjoy looking at them. Click here. Georgia Mancio sang with us. The audience certainly like having what used to be called disparagingly, “a bird up front”; Georgia certainly helped to knock them out. More work at Greens this month on the 18th and 31st. Look in if you want to see how the other half lives! Mustn’t complain as they look after us just fine.

The summer is coming in sight with a gig on Hampstead Heath on July 25th. What else? Dave Priseman still holds the drum chair in the band despite the fact that he is off getting famous with Imelda May – check him out on YouTube. If it goes on like this he’ll become an overnight sensation by the time he’s forty!

February 2010

Looks like the world is waking up again. More private work coming in. One in the Dulwich Picture Gallery looks interesting. The 100 Club on February 15th when Georgia Mancio will be singing with us; she is always fantastic.  The 100 Club is a great gig as the London Swing Society always pulls in a good dancing crowd. Two dates at Green's Oyster Bar this month on the 3rd and the 18th.
We’ve also established a presence on Facebook,  in addition to existing pages on Youtube and MySpace. More next month.

January 2010

Cold, snowing, dreak. No private functions this month. John, Neil and Jerome playing dates as a trio in Greens Oyster Bar in Cornhill. Getting  arrangements written so we can record some more tunes. The Best Is Yet to Come, Ain’t That a Kick in the Head, Mr. Bojangles. Keep up the band’s Rat Pack image.  Thank god for Youtube; it’s been easy to look at all the previous recordings of Mr. Bojangles (only written in 1968 surprisingly).

December 2009

The year ended with a very glamorous gig at the Pennyhill Park Hotel in Surrey. Three hundred people dancing their way through christmas eve. We’re booked again for next year so that only leaves 364 other nights to fill in!
